Revenue, Not Profit
We knew when we launched Firmament that we wanted our values to be reflected in the financial structure of the company, and that meant donating a portion of what we make as a company to the people and causes who need it most. When deciding how to structure our philanthropic model, we observed that most businesses pledge a portion of profit, rather than revenue. And while we are inspired by the incredible philanthropic impact of companies like Salesforce and others, as a boutique creative agency, we knew that a small percentage of profit, especially in the early years, might not add up to much. (And as everyone in business knows, profit can be a fluid figure.) We decided to commit to a fixed amount – 3% of every dollar we are paid for every project we work on.
